Twitter

As part of our marketing strategy we've started to use Twitter. If you don't know what Twitter is, it's a social networking service that allows people to stay in touch in realtime - you make a post (a tweet) and it's updated immediately. The challenge is that you only have 140 characters to compose your message. For us Twitter's another way to raise our profile online, so we're being quite focused with our activity. That means trying to 'tweet' once a day (at least). Which is hard work. Is our business, really that interesting?

Well, it turns out that actually it is. When you have to find something interesting to talk about - EVERY day - you realise how important some of the things you're doing are: to our clients and to our own business. For example, designing a new logo is a really exciting stage of a project, but checking the proof before the document is printed is just as important to the client. And a monthly networking lunch can seem mundane, but alot of the relationships that spawned the interesting logo projects have started there.

So if you're interested to see what we've been doing today, follow us on Twitter!

YouGen goes live!

The website is officially live - and looking good. The phase 2 development has been completed and the site's ready for business at www.yougen.co.uk. We've worked closely with Optix Solutions to apply the brand and the visual identity to the site. As well as the overall look and feel, this has involved developing all the various icons for the site, to help make the user experience as easy and intuitive as possible.

To learn a bit more about the project take at look at this previous post. To see some more examples of our logo design and brand development work, take a look at our website.

Egg hunts for Easter

Had a great weekend, making the most of the sunshine. On Saturday we visited Riverford, to join in their annual Easter Egg Hunt. It's a fantastic afternoon, with loads of things for kids to do and see, including a walk around the farm on the Easter Egg Hunt. We also had the opportunity to learn about a Send a Cow and the work they do in Africa. Then there's the incredible cakes from the Field Kitchen, to boost flagging energy levels!

Not content with that we also took a trip to Killerton House on Easter Sunday, as it was such a beautiful day, but we did pass on the opportunity for another egg hunt. Then to round off the weekend we visited friends on Monday, and the kids had another egg hunt in the garden. So over the course of the weekend William had a fairly high egg quota, but there's a pretty strict egg embargo in place in our house, so he didn't get to sample many! Me and Charlie took care of the surplus. At his age he's oblivious, but I'm not sure we'll get away with it next year!

Royal audience

We've been working with Kor Communications on some exhibition stands for Clinton Devon Estates to celebrate the Royal opening of their new estate office - and today's the day! The Duke of Gloucester visited the site at Bicton Arena this morning. It is a fantastic building - you can find out more about it here.

You don't really get a sense of the scale on screen, but the finished panels were just over 2 metres high. We had fantastic source material to work with from the Clinton Devon archives.

Carbon calculations

We've been doing some more work with Envision, to get a better idea of the impact our office has on the environment. We began working with them in 2007, when they helped us create an environmental management system and develop an environmental policy for our business.

The work we did with them was a great help to us when we set up Today and Tomorrow, an initiative aimed at helping companies to understand the benefits of putting the environment at the heart of their business. Visit www.todayandtomorrowonline.co.uk, to learn more about it.

The work we're currently doing with Envision is to asses our use of utilities and resources, to calculate our carbon footprint. So we're measuring our consumption of gas, electricity, water and paper in the office and we're also looking at our fuel usage from travel. When we've gathered the information we'll look at the various ways we can use it to add value to our business.
